What's Wrong with my Facebook?

I had a friend on fb I tried to message but when I select their name and hit enter their id shows up in the address bar but my home page doesn't change and when it does they say the page doesn't exist anymore or something. I checked my friends list and our friends in common and they doesn't show up in any of them yet their name and picture still come in when I type in the name?
