Is it good to be this closed off to new ideas?

Well I asked my friend to watch Into the Wild with me because I think it's inspiring. She doesn't watch rated R movies because she doesn't want to watch "bad" things. She is like this because of her religion. Like she won't read a certain book or watch a certain movie because of sex scenes or nudity scenes, but it seems like she's fine with watching movies with bad language and violence. Obviously sex and nudity is not the main point of most movies, and I don't think she's being very open. I offered to fast forward through the nudity scenes in Into the Wild but she said she just doesnt want to worry about it. What do you guys think?
